Just woke up to the news of Pete Seeger’s passing. I discovered Pete when I was pretty young and always felt that he embodied the approach to music that I’ve always aspired to the most. His talent was undeniable, but his love of song and people brought universal joy and appreciation.
Having lived the hell out of 94 years, I can’t help but think he must have been satisfied when he passed. He was the one musician I always wanted to meet and say “thank you” to the most. I guess the best way I could do that now would be to try my best to help as many people as possible with my own songs. I’ll try my best Pete. Thank you sir.
I’m in the airport getting ready to catch a flight back to Chicago. The west coast tour was one the most enjoyable and rewarding musical experiences I’ve ever had. I’m going home a little tired and smelly, but reinvigorated and ready to create more of my weird songs to share with others as often as I can. Thanks to everyone who listened, said “hello”, bought me a drink or just threw me a smile after I played. I met a lot of really beautiful people on this tour. I can’t wait to come back and see you again.
